After a trip down to the salon for hair and nails we headed home for some makeup and to get dressed... off to Randwick " Our lady of the Sacred Heart Church" for the official bits... then partied on at the Sebel, Pier One, Walsh bay..

A Lovely Day spent out at Belgenny Farm out near camden... it was a beautiful location to have a wedding and with plenty of onsite photo locations, almost reminded e of a hunter valley wedding.

WOW!! it has been a busy few weeks, trying hard to catch up on my recent back log of jobs due to recent events... most days working from 8am to midnight...

Here's a clip of some of the fine groomsmen at this wedding performing 1 of 2 songs, this was a Awesome thing to have at a wedding reception, and it's the perfect example why you would have a videographer to capture it too!! hope you enjoy...

In Memory of My Dad

Its been a rough few months here at MRM, my father passed away Nov 22nd 2010 mostly due to a skin cancer that had grown beyond control and in a bad place to operate on. it makes you realise that our families are special. well they should be. i encourage you all in 2011 to spend time with your loved ones more than ever, cause you don't know what the next 12 months will bring. this time last year my dad was alive, reasonably healthy. it only takes a moment.

cherish those who are closer than friends, Family.

Here's my spin on it as well..... the preparations, church/ceremony & photo shoots are easily handled by professional cameras, though the reception venue can always present a challenge. although the PRO camera's have a higher Lux thingy as mentioned in the article, they still do have there limitations despite how professional the user... movie makers don't have full studio lighting for a reason, even in full manual settings the camera operator will need to use additional lighting and minimal gain settings to achieve a balance between the two (if its too dark its un-usable)

Where the skill takes place that "uncle Joe" wont spend time doing is colour correction "grading" and adjusting the raw footage to achieve the desired effects... this can be very time consuming in itself.

We use cameras like the Canon 5d mark 2 and Sony's EX1R, these have great low light capabillities though they are 99.9% operator reliant when it comes to a low light reception or event.

Some good advice for couples planning their wedding is to either have the speeches in a designated location (a podium or lecturn- this helps with audio capture too) if the venue has specific lighting directed at this location (e.g spot light) try use it,
or another practice is to have the lighting turned UP during The Speeches, Cutting the cake. (I'm not saying that you need to blow the mood "out the window" but these little changes will help ensure your events are looking good all the time. and i know no matter how pro the operator they will love you for it.

Once the dancing hits too, try have some form of lighting, be this disco/dance lighting of minimal house lighting.. no lights equates to camera operators needing "on camera" lighting to some degree...

'For Eternity" Bridal Expo 2010

Memory Road Media just spent the last 2 days at the "For Eternity" bridal expo in Penrith, We had a great time meeting hundreds of brides, bride's mums, BFF's, family and of course all those happy grooms who gladly chose, without hesitation, to spend their time at the expo ;-) we wish them all our best wishes with their plans and upcoming wedding. it was great to catchup with old friends and new friends who were fellow exhibitors.

Expo's are a great reminder to brides for things that have been forgotten, or maybe the finishing touches required for the "BIG" day... we highly recommend them.

What a start to the year!! 2010 has started with a bang!!! already looking at bookings towards the end of 2011, I always love to see highly organised brides getting in early on what I believe to be one of the most crucial tools in capturing the moments of your "Once in a Lifetime" day. this year has been the biggest start for Memory Road as by the end of march we would have been a part of 13 weddings in some form plus additional bookings throughout the year. I encourage any brides reading this to take the advise above and to book us at your earliest convenience to ensure your date is available and that our Videography can help you best remember this moment in time.

Tea Ceremony's & Food x 10 courses

I just had a great day working with Lewis again from Truelight Video Productions, I was lucky enough to have the easier job of being his second cameraman for the day and assisting as required. The day began for me at 8am at the grooms house, Then for a traditional Tea Ceremony at his house, there were lots of new experiences here as they do things a lot differently, it just added to my ever changing view of how weddings run. I love learning about new cultures, after the ceremony and did I mention banquet we headed off to Eden Gardens http://www.edengardens.com.au/ for the Civil Service and photo shoot, wow!! it is a beautiful place.... especially for photos and video of course, after a quick stop down near the river, we headed back for the reception at Canley Vale - International Function Centre, on Canley Vale Road - after a huge night of 10 courses, some dancing and fun it was time to go home. was great to meet and work with photographer Vincent Lai http://www.vlblog.net/ he was a lot of fun and very easy to work with, thanks Lewis for the opportunity to for new things, Congratulations to Joey and Jacinta...

Bush Dance Wedding

How many Bush dance weddings have you been too?? This was my first. Just yesterday I had the privilege of capturing this rarity, but after this one I think they should become more popular again. what better way to get people involved, all ages welcome,and your not restricted to techno, doof doof music or bright flashing lights. just the strum of the guitar and pluck of a violin, throw in the bass and drums and all you need now is the sweat filled brow of people having a great time, that's enough from me, i'll upload a clip soon, but finally Memory Road Media can tick the box that says I've had the pleasure of filming a Bush Dance Wedding, Congrats to adam aand Lisa for a fine selection.... I found this clip recently and have to say it has to be the favorite video I've done. it was put together to be used for a mothers day event.
Most of the footage was mine from my personal collection, but I filmed some extra footage specially for it.
call me biased, but I don't care I love it.

and besides, she'll "always be a daughter" to me.

What a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding, and so well located. preparations began at the Observatory Hill Hotel, a short walk, to the ceremony on Observatory Hill Park and then of to the wine cellar at the argyle cellars http://www.argyleevents.com.au/argylecellars.htm afterward we popped around the place including the Bridge at Northbridge, Sydn.... thanks Dexter & Penelope for the great day... all the best.

Wow!!! what a day this was. It all began at Star City for the Bride and Groom preparations, lucky for us, both were in the same hotel (always great when that happens) when it was time it was off to the church in Little Bay, a beautiful place for a beautiful moment. The reception was at Doltone House- Pyrmont, this is where I set up my gear to edit a clip to be played during the reception. Also it was great to work with one of the best photographers - David Oliver and his daughter Claire. The highlight for me was the band, especially when guests were asked to come and have a Jam, Groom on bass, So much fun. the clip below is what was presented on a big screen for all the guests and couple to see at the reception.
